Good for the Trees / Good for the Library
2011 will be a year of changes for Friends of the Library (FOL). The new logo is here. The new website is here. Our new membership fees have already begun to attract new members. In addition, we have made the commitment to go green. The first step in what will be a many-months process is that we will no longer issue membership cards.
No Membership Card Needed
FOL has found that most members do not carry their cards. Cards are expensive to produce and even more expensive to send via snail mail. How much better to save the trees and put the monetary savings toward our real goal – supporting the library and its programs.
Membership still confers benefits and those benefits will be available without a card. Lists at the Book Sales and at the Friends Library Store will ensure that members get their discounts and early admission. The same will be true of admission to FOL events.
As we move forward into the paperless future, please remember to send us your email address. Communicating via email will enable us to get news to you in both a less expensive and a more timely fashion. Please send your email addresses with “email update” in subject line.
