Friends Library Store Volunteer
If you love books or have ever wanted to work in a bookstore or at the Library, volunteer at the Friends Library Store. You'll help the Library and have fun at the same time.
For just three hours per week on weekdays or three hours every other weekend, you will receive 10% off in the store and the opportunity to work in the beautiful downtown Central Library. While supporting the Multnomah County Library, you will help customers, work with books, and interact with the people who love them.
No experience necessary. Six month commitment expected. Bring your great attitude and smile. We welcome volunteers who are 16 years and older, people who are working, not working, going to school or who are retired. You will be trained.
Volunteer Sales Associate
Reports To: Store Manager, Assist. Store Manager
Commitment: Two- four 3.5-hour shifts per month (more preferred if possible), attend all trainings, six month commitment
Job description
- Greet & assist customers
- Learn product information, mission of Friends of the Library Store, and policies and procedures
- Unpack, price, and stock merchandise as needed
- Sell products and memberships
- Assist with opening/closing procedures
- Maintain store cleanliness and order
- Assist with special projects as skills/interest allow
Qualifications
- Interest in and commitment to the mission of the Friends of the Library Store
- Willing and able to learn policies, procedures, and product
- Enjoy interaction with a wide variety of people
- Detail oriented, accurate, with strong math skills
- Dependable
- Sixteen years old or older
- Retail experience a plus
