Friends of the Library is ringing in the New Year with a new logo. To celebrate we are including in each newsletter a colorful window sticker featuring our new look. This logo is part of a larger effort to rebrand our organization, to raise our visibility, and to increase our membership. To this end, we urge you all to get our new logo out and about town – put your gift sticker on your car window, your office window or your front door.

Special thanks go to graphic artist Bob Bailey of Bailey Design Partners for the new design which he created pro bono. Bob, originally from Idaho, graduated from the Art Center in Los Angeles and came to work in Portland in 1972. Bob uses the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood library and Central Library downtown. In creating the logo, he sought to suggest the variety of services the library provides as well as the energy and creativity libraries generate.

Hints in the new logo of both the future and the past reflect Bob’s belief that technology will force the library to adapt and change quickly in the coming years. He hopes that with the help of organizations like the Friends this transition will be made smoothly. The Friends would like to thank Bob Bailey. We are very proud of our new logo.
