For over 50 years, volunteers have been at the heart of everything we do. Every month, our volunteers contribute more than 800 hours of their time, helping us raise vital funds that support the Library’s incredible programs and services.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Help us make the Friends Library Store a welcoming place for our community. This volunteer role focuses on assisting customers and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Friends Library Store. Your experience and enthusiasm will help us provide a friendly shopping experience while supporting the Friends of the Multnomah County Library and its mission.

    We're looking for someone with retail, customer service, or sales experience who enjoys working with people and creating a welcoming environment. Experience with books, libraries, or nonprofit organizations is a plus.

    Availability
    Fridays and Saturdays, with shifts from 12:00–2:30 PM or 2:30–5:00 PM.

  • Help us build stronger connections in our community. This volunteer role focuses on developing and supporting outreach and advocacy efforts for the Friends of the Multnomah County Library. Your expertise will help us connect with community members, strengthen partnerships, and advocate for the important role libraries play in our community.

    We're looking for someone with experience in community outreach, advocacy, public engagement, communications, or partnership development who enjoys building relationships and helping organizations connect with their communities. Experience with nonprofit organizations, public libraries, or community-based advocacy is a plus.

    Availability
    Flexible and project-based.
