Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Friends of the Multnomah County Library! For over 50 years, volunteers have been at the heart of everything we do. Every month, our volunteers contribute more than 800 hours of their time, helping us raise vital funds that support the Library’s incredible programs and services.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Help us keep things running smoothly at Rose City Reads! Volunteers in this role manage customer purchases using our Square POS System, handle cash and card transactions, and greet shoppers with a warm, welcoming attitude. You’ll play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive experience for everyone who visits the store.

    You must be available every Wednesday from 2–5 PM to fulfill this role.

  • Help us keep things running smoothly at Friends Library Store! Volunteers in this role manage customer purchases using our Square POS System, handle cash and card transactions, and greet shoppers with a warm, welcoming attitude. You’ll play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive experience for everyone who visits the store.

    You must be available every Friday from 2–5 PM to fulfill this role.

  • Help us spread the word about everything happening within Friends of the Multnomah County Library! Volunteers in this role assist with updating our website calendar and creating content for our social media. You’ll play an important part in keeping our community connected, informed, and excited about upcoming events.

  • Help us tell our story. This volunteer role focuses on capturing the heart of Friends of the Multnomah County Library through video. You’ll help create a compelling piece that we can share across our online platforms.

    We’re looking for someone who enjoys visual storytelling, has experience filming and editing, and is excited to collaborate on a meaningful creative project.

    Flexible and project-based.

  • Volunteers in this role join an ongoing pool supporting Friends of the Multnomah County Library at pop-up book sales hosted at local libraries. Responsibilities include setting up displays, selling used books, handling transactions (using Square POS), and engaging with community members. Volunteers help create a welcoming, organized, and enjoyable experience while supporting library programs through book sales.

    Availability
    Flexible; once approved, you’ll be notified about upcoming events and can sign up for the shifts that work for you.
