Volunteer at the Store »

Just inside the entrance of Central Library, sometimes overlooked by a passing library patron’s eye, lies the cozy and welcoming Friends Library Store.  This shop contains many books and items guaranteed to delight any literature lover or art aficionado. The shop is run by volunteers (with the assistance of our amazing store manager, Bryn) and all proceeds are used for the promotion and benefit of programs for Multnomah County Library.  If you haven’t yet had the chance to stop by, here are a few things our charming store has to offer:

Books

The Friends Library Store has a wide selection of gently-read, delightfully affordable books: fiction and non-fiction, current and past, some classics, some recent bestsellers.  We receive new shipments of donated books each week. Our inventory is always changing!

Don't forget to check out the three carts in the lobby that feature New Books, 50% off books, and the 3 for $5 book special.

Greeting Cards and Local Artwork

Our store offers a treasure trove of greeting cards suitable for any occasion or sentiment including birthdays, anniversaries, get well, sympathy, thank you and congratulations. We also offer a variety of cute cards for major holidays and graduations. Many of our cards are created by local artists and are very charming and unique. The shop also has postcards promoting the lovely city of Portland and the Central Library.

Journals, Notebooks and More

In addition to our great variety of books and greeting cards, the Friends Library Store offers a selection of beautiful journals, moleskins and notebooks that are a perfect gift for any writer, philosopher and/or aspiring author. We recently received a selection of clothbound journals that were handmade in India!
