Do you have a specific book?

Our inventory is constantly changing, with over 15,000 items cycling in and out, so we can’t guarantee that we have a particular title at any given time. However, we’re always happy to check for you! If we do have the book you're looking for, we can hold it for up to 24 hours so you can pick it up at your convenience.

Don’t hesitate to give us a call, and we’ll let you know if the book is available!

Where can I park? Is it free?

Free parking is available outside Rose City Reads.

The Central Library does not have a parking lot, but it is across the street from the Smart Park on 10th & Yamhill. Find out more about SmartPark Garages here.

All of the items we sell come to us through donations from the general public. Without donations from community members like you,  we would not be able to hold such large sales of books in wonderful condition. Our sorting room staff and volunteers work tirelessly to sort, categorize, and price our donated books for sale.

Where do you get your great selection?

You can donate your gently used items three ways. You can take up to two boxes/bags to any local library branch; this limit is due to space limitations on the trucks transporting items between branches and to our sorting center. You can also bring them to our donation center at 216 NE Knott Street, or, if you are physically unable to deliver your donation, you can call us at 503-988-6191 to schedule a pick up. Before donating, please make sure that you carefully review our donation guidelines.

How can I donate items?

Our work is made possible with the help of hundreds of volunteers. There are many ways you can volunteer for Friends of the Multnomah County Library. Find out how here!

What do you do with the money you make?

We love collaborating with fellow nonprofits! Partnering with Friends of the Multnomah County Library can create meaningful connections, shared events, and opportunities to uplift each other’s missions—all while supporting our community and the public library system.

Whether it’s co-hosting an event, sharing resources, or brainstorming a new initiative, we’re always open to creative partnerships.

If your organization is interested in working together, reach out to our Executive Director, Jackie Starr, at jackie.starr@friends-library.org. She’d love to hear from you!
